Navigating our Shared Past

Our dedicated archivist, with support from the Auckland Library Heritage Trust and Lotteries Heritage, has completed the marathon effort of archiving the Going West festival  audio collection for 1996 – 2019. Over summer, whilst sitting down with the festival’s Co-Founder Naomi McCleary, attention turns to identifying the writers and attendees in the enormous photo collection — mostly captured by the iconic Gil Hanly and, latterly, Liz Marsh. Nostalgia and stories will flow all summer long. A few gems can be read here. In 2025, we aim to release a series of podcasts from this extraordinary collection spanning 25 years.
