Foundations for Shadbolt House

Our long-dreamed of writers residency at Maurice Shadbolt’s former home has passed some major milestones, securing both its literal and metaphorical foundations. Physical work to secure the house is well underway — but that’s just the start.

We’re incredibly excited to announce that Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga has confirmed Maurice Shadbolt House and Studio in Titirangi as a Category 1 historic place. The listing identifies it as a place of outstanding heritage significance for its long and close association with one of New Zealand’s best-known late 20th Century writers.
